Maude's railway car home....

I thought of this because someone in our area is selling a caboose....which I would LOVE LOVE LOVE....but I'm not even asking how much it is because I've heard from them it costs an absolute fortune to move one.

But HERE is an article about where the train car is now (museum). The style is Art Deco from the 1930s...its original interior design. In the movie they tossed in a mishmash of additional decoration -- stained glass Victorian windows etc. -- to reflect Maude's eclecticism.

(Note there's a link within the article to see the interior in a separate article)

That's interesting. I didn't remember the train car but it was so long ago I saw this movie. I just remember how they met (attending a stranger's funeral) and then how it ended.

Funny--the first time they showed Maude's house it was a simple interior shot and I said, "Her house reminds me of Clara's" (a restaurant in Lansing, MI where you could dine in an old railroad car). Then later on I saw why--her house WAS a railroad car! Lulz
