Shortened scenes? e.g., Glaucus

Yesterday I got the Blu-Ray and while watching it felt that a few scenes seemed to end too abruptly, as if they had been shortened for some reason other than artistic motives. E.g. the scene with Glaucus, the ice sculptor, seemed a lot shorter than when I first saw this movie maybe 20 years ago. specially as it featured the great actor Cyril Cusack, who surely deserved a longer scene and more lines.

Is there any possibility that there exists a version longer than 91 minutes - some kind of director's cut, perhaps?

reply

I would love to see a directors cut, but sadly I've never heard of there being one. There are trailers on youtube showing glimpses of scenes not in the film. In the book Glaucus gets a longer story, so I think they must have filmed a lot more with Cusack.

Are you certain you've seen another version?

reply

Sorry, no I am not. Just find it hard to believe that the scene with the venerable Cyril Cusack is so short.

You made me wonder if I hadn't seen a longer scene. I saw it in a theater first time but it wasn't first release. It's worth finding out if there's a longer version.
