This movie is available in America on Netflix, streaming only. I would love to buy a DVD but the Netflix streaming was fine. I suspect they have gotten hold of a single copy and just have it for people to stream. Better than nothing until I can buy my own copy.

I watched this movie on Netflix streaming on 31 October 2010 but it is now unavailable in any format on Netflix. It's listed but says only "DVD availablity date unknown".

I think this has happened with a couple of other movies, too, so my advice is if you find a movie you want to see on Netflix streaming, don't delay watching it.

^You're right, I just checked. Netflix is annoying like that. The Go Between is a beautiful movie and it's a shame that it's almost impossible to find now.

I wanted to rewatch American Teen on Netflix. I was able to stream it last time, but now they only have it on DVD. I cannot figure out why something that was available to stream before is now no longer available.

I tried to find a Netflix forum where the issue of disappearing movies is discussed but no luck.

My DVD player is Region 1 and so far as I can tell, there aren't any Region 1 DVDs of The Go-Between for sale now. I'd have to buy a Region 2 or Region Free DVD player, then buy the Region 2 DVD just to see it again.

I'd be happy if I just knew when Netflix would make it available again. I can't find any info on their website.

I never thought of that. Seriously. Everything is so high-tech these days, calling a company on the phone seems so 20th century somehow.

I did a little onlne research and a second DVD player that could play a Region 2 DVD (which is what The go-Between is) is only about $40. I should probably buy one as there are other movies available only in Region 2 DVD form that I'd like to own.

But thank you for a most practical, cut-to-the-chase suggestion.

I haven't checked on this film but sometimes I have gotten copies of hard to find movies from Ebay. I still have one dvd/vhs machine for films on VHS tapes which have never made it to dvd.

Several years ago whole video store rental inventories were sold off on Ebay as the stores shut down. Many foreign films had hardly been used.

I finally gave in last winter and bought myself a multi-region player. Now I can watch regions 1 & 2 movies.
