Brilliant film
Just watched for the first time. Almost didn't bother but the special edition dvd with commentary by frayling persuaded me to buy it. Plus I'm really coming to appreciate Leone properly.
Always thought it was just some jokey film ripping off fistful of dollars.
Can't believe how much they had butchered this film.
And still so much of the film is missing. John's attempt to blow up the church tower when he thinks Juan and his kids have entered it make him appear more than a little psychotic, until in the extras you discover there should be a scene where he's forced to walk through the desert without water like blondie in GBU.
Do Italian cuts of this film have the whole story or is the 150min region 2 restored cut the fullest version remaining?
Still a damned good film though, and one of morricone's best scores. Incredible how the studio butchered this. I had no idea how good this was going to be.
