Did Leone really offer this to Clint Eastwood?

Not sure if I buy this. In Fraylings book on Leone, when asked if he considered working with Eastwood again, he said he offered a role in Once Upon a Time in the West and that was it. In the detailed book about Eastwoods life(cant remember the name), it also says he was offered "Once Upon a time in the West", but Eastwood declined(it should be noted that Eastwood claims he was offered Harmonica, while Leone claims he offered the role of one of victims in the opening scene).

So is there any proof he was ever offered this?

How is this the wrong board? I'm asking if Leone offered Eastwood the role of the lead for Gui la Testa.

lol, no. But that's interesting as well because that's what Leone says. The author of Clints Biography claims he was offered Harmonica.

I wouldn't have liked Eastwood as Harmonica, it would have just felt like another Dollars movie and the film isn't that, Charles Bronson was perfect for the role, would have been pretty cool to have Eastwood, Wallach and Lee Van Cleef as the three gunmen at the station though.

Second chances are rare man, you shoud learn to take better advantage of em'

If Eastwood was offered anything in this movie it would have been the James Coburn role.

But I've never read anywhere that Eastwood was even considered for GIU LA TESTA.

An actor that was considered for the exploding Irishman was Malcolm McDowell (hot off IF...).
Leone tried to get Jason Robards for Sean Mallory but the studios wanted Coburn.
