Which Restored Version to get?

I've read that this film is now available in a 2-Disc Restored Collectors Edition to get, both in the US and the UK. However, I have read that not only is the UK version cut (due to horsefalls, and two expletives), but apparently the music cues have been mixed up, and now play in the wrong points of the film. Can anyone confirm if the R1 (US) version also has incorrect music cues, or is it correctly done.

I own an R4 version myself; the picture is adequate, and the film is. for the most part, complete (except for the 3-minute flashback at the end)

All the MGM versions apart from the first one which you apparently have, include the remixed soundtrack with incorrect music. Even the "original mono audio" on the Region 1 collector's edition is just a "fold-down" of the remixed track :/ I'd advice you to get the film in an Italian import, or download the flashback scene separately online.

Alright thanks, guess I'll stick with my R4 copy for now.

What would be the best version in English to get? I live in the US and have the 2-Disc Collectors Edition (released in 2007, I think). This version is rated R and I can remember at least one or two uses of the F word (after Juan frees the prisoners, for example) and I'm pretty sure it shows a horsefall in the scene where they shoot at and then blow up the bridge. Is there any better version in English?
Here's the link to the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Sucker-Fistful-Dynamite-2-Disc-Collectors/dp/B000OPOANO

If you could include a link to it on amazon or a similar website, that'd be great.

This one has the original mono mix with all the correct music and swearwords intact, but the climactic flashback scene is missing from the print. The flashback scene, with the correct music, can be seen here:

My version is 157 min long and has the full flashback, with a slight difference in the music. For example, when the friend is kissing the girl, and we see John's face, the music changes a little and we hear a darker-sounding "shon, shon, shon."
Also, yours is region 2 for europe.

You may be able to make your DVD player region-free with a series of numbers and other buttons on your remote control. Just google the DVD player model number and add "region hack", if it exists you should find it.

I bought the Region 2 2-disk set as soon as it came out at Amazon UK.

At the time i had a region-free DVD player, which later died.

However, i can watch it on my computer, using VLC media player, which basically ignores the hardware region setting in the computer's DVD drive.

I have the Scandinavia MGM edition with no cuts (because it is not the UK edition) but with the flashback with the "Sean or Shon" song at the end.

It that song the only one that is misplaced in the second DVD release of this film? Or there are more scenes with incorrect music?

Whether you think the scene works better with the wrong cue or not is irrelevant, that's what fan-edits are for. As the official product it should contain the official soundtrack.
