If I enjoyed The Dollars Trilogy would I like this?
Just wondering if it's like the Dollars trilogy at all?

shareDuck, You Sucker has more social and emotional depth than the Dollars/Man With No Name Trilogy, but in an odd, good way, it's goofier, too. There's no other film quite like it. Once Upon a Time in the West is the safer recommendation, but Duck, You Sucker could be that flawed masterpiece that clicks with you to perfection, like it did with me. For all its quirks, I'd put it up there as one of my top five favorite films. Again, it's a one of a kind. There's no way to know what you'll think till you see it for yourself.
shareAs a fan of Leone who only recently saw this movie a couple of times, I would say no. Interesting but does not hold together and certainly hasn't aged well being infected with the politics of the time. I'll stick to his westerns, the Man with No Name had a more nuanced understanding of human nature than anyone in this movie.
It's a more mature western than the Dollars Trilogy.
shareThe man is gone now, and all that's left are these films. Too bad they have been messed with a bit here and there, but a true Sergio Leone fan owes it to themselves to try and see them all at least once. This one has some classic moments, great fx for the time, and 'splosions galore!!!
shareDuck You Sucker is a darker film than ones in the Dollars Trilogy and Once Upon a Time in the West. The characters in this film actually develop and the jokes have real consequences and are not simply pranks at the expense of Tuco for example.
It is also much more political compared with his previous four films. This film deals with subjects like Italian history, revolution, disillusion and treachery.
Perhaps it is a kind of transitional film in which Sergio Leone moves away from the Dollars Trilogy and Once Upon a Time in the West to the far more serious Once Upon a Time in America.
I think you should give this film a serious chance.
Everybody censors, including you.
I already replied once but I'm going again
I would start with the trilogy (Though I don't care for them)
Then watch THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY
Then ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST
Then DUCK YOU SUCKER (A Fistfull Of Dynamite original title)
Then ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA
Then you will have Leones vision of America, and watch him improve as a writer and director
You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!
I'd watch them this way instead:
TGTBATU
AFOD
FAFDM
OUATIA
DYS
OUATITW
Release order is the way I'd recommend watching a filmography especially when it's so small. Except with Leone, one should definitely skip his first two (The Last Days of Pompeii and The Colossus of Rhodes).
