Omnibus Robbery & the first "trailer trash"

Leone’s depiction of the “Omnibus Robbery” in “Duck You Sucker” (Once Upon A Time The Revolution) is probably a Western first, at least I haven’t heard from fellow aficionados of any other yet depicted, so we can for the moment say that it possibly is, it may also be the longest stage holdup on film. Its aftermath is what is of interest next.

The film first focuses on the initial meeting and confrontation between Juan & John resulting in a hole in John’s motorcycle tire and a hole in Juan’s roof. Juan goes out to fix John’s bike tire and John falls asleep. We see next the Miranda bandit family’s transformation of the omnibus into for all intends and purposes a “trailer”, with a black smoking stove pipe jutting out of the hole in the roof, ornately ridiculous what can only be called patio furniture, with even a period brass portable stove standing in for a “grill” could this be an unintended but amusing depiction of what we’d refer to today as trailer “folk” but heck it’s a badge of honor now to be trailer trash, as real a North Americans anybody else born on this continent. They moved the omnibus to a whole new location and set up the camp without wakening John.
