tragic

this film, which begat bob clark's "black christmas",which in turn begat john carpenter's "halloween",had so much potential, what with a dream cast(especially bannen as the stalker),and such a path for atmosphere, but it's bad script and direction prevent it from being a classic.susan george's character is more incoherent than bannen's,and towards the begining i wondered how the hell she could be so scared before anything actually happened.and the ending is a default,as it looked like they didn't know how to end the film.really amateurish.and yet,it's still enjoyable.guess with all it's components,it could only go so wrong.but just imagine if bannen had a better director than semi-hack peter collinson.

I have to apologize but Susan George gave one of the top 5 worst performances in movie history in Fright. She spent half the movie with a pout look, a quarter admiring herself with her sweater dress open, and a quarter or more screaming. She was pitiful. As for The actor playing Brian, OMG, he was equally as bad. He devolved into a complete nut, but not the kind that you are compelled to watch. He sounded mainly like a caged animal. Being an escaped mental patient doesn't mean you speak gibberish and act like a 5 year old or a monkey. The little boy, Tara (why name him a girl's name????????????), was more understandable than he was. This movie was so poorly acted (Honor fairs the best as the nervous and frayed wife, Helen; I almost believed her! LOL) that it was insufferable!

Tara was the boy's name in real life. I would think that as he was so young they had to use his real name to get him to react to the actors when they spoke to him.

YOU SHOULDN'T BE EATING SAUSAGES!!
