'Gypsy' on the Roof???

Has anyone else noticed that, title similarity aside, the song "Little Bird" is more than a "little" reminiscent of the melody "Little Lamb" from the earlier stage musical Gypsy?

I am not a musicologist so cannot describe this similarity in any sort of academic terms but portions of the song sure seem to be have more a passing resemblance to my ear. And fact that they both have "Little (fill-in-the-animal)" titles (as well as a melancholy tone in bigger scheme of things) only draws attention to it.

I've never seen 'Gypsy,' so I cannot judge.

I've seen both films dozens of times and have the soundtracks. I don't recall ever thinking that one song sounds like the other. I trust my ear because it's how I play nearly all of the music I know on the bowed psaltery. Before that, I also "played by ear" as an organist (double-keyboard Hammond).

They're completely separate songs, unlike, for example, "Make 'Em Laugh" and "Be A Clown"; of course, practically everyone could hear that resemblance.

I'm watching the film now, so I'll listen exceedingly closely and will recant if necessary.
