How to Escape from the Truck?

One tactic to escape from the Truck would have been to abandon the car and climb up a steep hill. If the other side of the hill didn't have a gentle slope that the truck could drive up David would be safe there.

Or David could have climbed down into a steep gully or ditch the truck couldn't follow into without getting wrecked.
