This Should Be Remade

The quit smoking issue is still an ongoing struggle in society, more so now due to the smoking bans in most public places. It would be great to see this get remade.

Ahh, once again a "I want to see this film remade" moron rears his misshapen head.

I'm sure some brainless Hollywood person will consider it since about 10 new ideas have come from there in the last 20 years

I think that exactly because smokers are already habituated not being able to be smoking in so many different locations, that it probably has lost its relevance to do a remake. The 70's and 80's were the best times to handle this subject. I can even see an early 90's remake. You should do it about some other habit now. Not letting people eat fast food for a month, or taking away internet or all communication access for instance.

Although they're considered addictions, I don't see people getting as violent doing without Internet as they would without tobacco. Nor giving up fattening food neither.

There was a musical version workshopped at the Village Theatre in Issaquah, Washington in February, 2005.

This movie was not about smoking at all. The smoking was just used as a vehicle to make fun at American culture in general, particularly the mainstream media and our obsession with getting our 15 minutes and how quickly we would sell ourselves out to get that 15 minutes. The scenes when the town goes crazy after it becomes featured on the news and becomes a tourist destination is what Cold Turkey was about, not the smoking.
