My favorite combinations of shots of all time


I absolutely love the tableau-type scene in A Clockwork Orange when the vengeful writer is torturing Alex by playing Beethoven's 9th at full blast. Alex is locked in the bedroom one floor above going berserk at the music. In the billiards room below, the writer's nurse, Julian; and the wife of the conspiratorial politician are standing stoically to the left and right of the door. The politician is mindlessly rolling billiard balls along the table, and the writer is in an apparent state of euphoria blasting the tape player. It's just an excellent juxtaposition of human suffering upstairs and the detached evil causing it one floor below.
