Another one of those movies...

For me, this is another one of those movies I love because it really says something different to me each time I see it. I first saw it when I was in my early 20s thinking it was going to be full of sex and stuff. It was great seeing Ann-Margaret nude, (which I still get something out of today) but for the most part the second half of the movie with the aging characters did not really have any impact on me. Back then, I related to Sandy's character to some degree because I was too nice. I had some fun and wild girlfriends in high school and college, but none of them went all the way, which was something I really wanted but was too immature to pull off. At the time, I despised Jonathan's character in his college years, most likely because he was able to easily obtain something that I could not, ESPECIALLY with "good" girls like Susan. It really turned me off, and I felt vindicated during the dorm room scene when Sandy and Susan are packing for their camping trip as he laid despondent in bed.

Well, what a difference 10-15 years makes. I just watched this again, and wouldn't you know, I actually relate to Jonathan's character. I finally got what I always wanted, but I had to PAY. Heeeeeere's Barbie!! Yep, no joke, that's her name. Ball busting is putting it mildly. I'm STILL trying to bury myself out of the 3 year hell I went through. Nice guys indeed finish last, especially when they try to play the game and lose. Now I know better.

Only problem is, I've found my Susan and I feel like she may be the one, BUT---

Yep, you guessed it, now I actually feel SORRY for the Jonathan character becuase now I know what it's like to be with young immature "nice" girl being "bad". Screw the sex, (which is amazing) I want a commitment! This is madness!! Unbelieveable. Everything has come full circle, and I should have seen it coming.
