Did anyone else notice...

that during the slideshow at the end, Jack Nicholson goes "here's Bobbie" in the same voice and tone as "here's Johnny!" only this movie obviously came first. Weird.

reply

Wow that is strange, I never noticed that.

This may sound like jibberish to you, but I think im a tragedy

reply

Yes, I noticed that and chuckled.

"Here's Johnny" is not originally from "The Shinning", it is from the Johnny Carson Show. Ed or someone, the announcer would say "Here's Johnny" and Johnny Carson would walk in...

reply

Carson was using it from the 60's. I don't remember it from this movie which I only saw once when it came out. But I do remember it from the Steven King movie and I always thought it fit well and was a take off on Johnny Carson's intro.

Speaking of "Heeeere's Johnnnnny," did anyone also notice that one of the girls in the slideshow is named Wendy (the wife's name in "The Shining")?

reply

I noticed that too. I don't think it was a coincidence nor do I think the line in The Shining was a reference to this movie.

I think it was a case of Jack Nicholson bringing a bit of himself to the character. I have a feeling he does that a lot as he play essentially himself in every single movie. I'm sure he has a lot of personal input into what his character says in the movies he's in.

I bet if you knew Jack Nicholson in real life you'd here him say that line every once in a while.

I found another reason to believe both the "Here's..." lines were improvised by Jack Nicholson. Check out #30 in this article (the rest is worth reading too):
