Does he really have full on nudity in this movie? I've wanted to watch this movie for forever just because I love Mike Nichols and I went into the trivia section today and saw the "Here comes big Steve."
Just wondering if this movie was actually that graohic.
We just viewed the DVD, we bought a long time ago. In the shower scene, Jack was blurred out, both front and rear. You saw A M, nude from the back and on the bed. Also, a sort of 3/4 rear shot, that showed the side of her breast. When she was sitting up in bed, the camera stopped above her nipples, for a long take. But that was it. There was no full frontal in that DVD. A M was so beautiful, that they could have shown 90 minutes of her walking around nude, and won an Academy Award. So..are there two versions, and how would you find out ?
The early shower scene with Nicholson was shot very cleverly with Art shaving in the mirror and the steam from the shower fogging the mirror at the bottom that Art is using--this "fog" extends from the bottom of the mirror up a few inches in just the right place to blur Jack's torso below the waist.
As a result Jack is able to turn back and forth, showing his back and his front as he showers and chats with Art at the mirror shaving.
The foggy bit on the mirror blurs his privates and bum. Very clever film shot.
As for Art "nude" in the locker room, the camera frame at the bottom cuts off just below his waist. So the impression is that he's showing frontal nudity but it's not--at least in the versions of the film I've seen.
