They are trying to raise the funds to make this movie. One of the ways they are doing this is the pre-sale of tickets to the 100 city simultaneous premiere of the film. If you figure that the largest auditorium in each of these cities is an average of 400 seats (500 might be realistic, but 400 is safer) that's 40,000 tickets at $35 per. So if this premiere sells out around the country, they've raised $1.4 million to help them make the movie. Even after you subtract the cost of promoting the premiere and flying 20 winners into L.A. for the big premiere gala, they will still have over a million in cash for filmmaking just from this one fundraiser alone.
Don't get me wrong, I think the world of the original "Billy Jack", I watched it again just the other night and it is as magical now as it was when I watched it in the theater in its original release. But the sequels do not live up to the original, and I doubt that whatever political statement Tom Laughlin wants to make with this latest sequel will result in a quality film being brought to the screen. He and Delores gave us a great film back then and I am thankful for it, I doubt anything they do now will do anything but suffer by comparison.
