"The Greatest Generation" failed

How did the folks that won WW2 raise these spoiled hippy brats.
My understanding is the so called hippies most of them kept getting money sent to them from their parents. How else could they afford those VW vans and always have money for food and drugs?

There's an important difference between the real hippies (many, if not most of who lived in communes), and were genuinely idealistic people who were really pushing for a genuine change in our whole society, and the Flower Children, most of who came from wealthier families and were just interested in the fun of dressing up like hippies, but then they go home to their mom and dad after the day is over. The Flower Children were pseudo-hippies, or plastic hippies, as some people called them back in the late 1960's.

The kids that were portrayed in the film "Billy Jack" were really the Flower Children, who, imho, were much more obnoxious and were totally phony, to boot.
