The scene where the posse with the car and cycle go to ambush the kidnappers. Lame dialogue billboarding motives and stilted line readings left me changing the channel. Plus.. the Wayne boys are poor actors in this.
What do you think I asked you here for? Company?!?!?!?
I guess you're right as far as the cheezy dialog goes. Heck, I know you're right.
This movie reminds me of some other things so I have a soft spot 'cause of that. Anyway, I hope you can overlook all of its mistakes (I know that there's a bunch) and enjoy the show in spite of them.
"You be nice to him Ben, he has ROTC!" Andy Griffith
I remember watching it in the theater as a 20 year old, about the age of Michael in the movie. And I thought it was so cool that Michael rode that motorcycle and managed to keep some of the men from shooting.
Patrick Wayne was so handsome too. But the acting was definitely stiff in places. Michael was played by Chris Mitchum and boy did he look like his father.
I loved the movie then and watch it every few years on TCM.
Remember this is a 1971 Western. No cussing or nekked people. Violence was ok. If this were done today (God forbid some a-hole remakes it) the dialogue would be full of obscenities for sure. The dog would not be killed. PETA would crap themselves over a scene like that.
