You thought Dog was dead ! Not hardly (see picture)

Is the following picture simply a still from Big Jake or could we/ should we consider it as a family picture taken after little Jake's rescue ?

In the case of a family picture, it would show that Dog survived (and so did Jeff)

Eventhough I was sad that Dog was - supposedly - killed, I love Big Jake, my favorite movie. Imho the climax is definetely the best of all Duke's movies.

But I like this picture very much for it makes me think that Jake eventually went back home to Martha with his faithful Dog who finally made it. The absence of Sam on the picture is another reason why it shouldn't be considered as a single still.

Like master, like dog ? If everyone thought that Jake was dead, couldn't it be true to his dog as well ?
