As many times as I've seen this movie, I cannot figure out for the life of me if the boy named Chico is actually shot by Pop Dawson, or if he simply just falls out of the way after hearing the gunshot. Could someone help me out here?

Pop Dawson kills him. These people are so evil they will kill young women and children just for being in the way.
I figured. The scene with Chico falling is so fast, you can't tell if he just falls out of the way, or falls because he got shot. Thanks for clearing that up.
