What we got here is... failure to communicate
Colossus: The Forbin Project, Westworld, Soylent Green, and Logan's Run are a few that come to mind. I would also recommend the original Planet Of The Apes series of films. Although about ten years later but still an excellent film is Escape From New York.

You are more than welcome. Also, if you are into horror (and plenty of gore) I also recommend George Romero's Dead series for another look at a world gone very bad.

Also, give "Phase IV" a try.
Robert Wise did another sci-fi picture I really enjoy - Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
