Remake dream cast

I just saw this movie, and since I heard of a remake, I got thinking of a cast, just for discussion.

Duke Anderson-Bruce Willis
The Kid- Cillian Murphy
Ingrid-Jessica Alba
Pop-Christopher Walken
Tommy Haskins-Nathan Lane
Spencer- Andre Benjamin

Just a rough idea. Thoughts? Comments?

Scully: Have you ever had any dealings with a cow?
Mulder: Agent Scully, WHAT are you implying?

Frances Bay has to play one of the old ladies in the remake.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

reply

The original cast of this movie is a "dream cast" if there ever was one.

reply

Walkin gets to be Pop this time,
that's sweet!

Chris Rankin as Duke Anderson
Jared Padalecki as The Kid
Milla Jovovich as Ingrid
David Povall as Pop
Robert Downey Jr. as Tommy Haskins
Tyrese as Spencer

actually i think Daniel Craig should have the lead.
not because of his accent or james bond background, but i think he would bring extra tension to this role.

he is a good mystery actor :)

Accent my foot if one reads the novel you'll see that John "Duke" Anderson is from the south. So Willis might not be a bad choice however he just might be a bit too old at this point.

However to hear ANDERSON Described as a Limey took a bit of putting behind me. There were times though that Seans thick accent seemed to attempt a less obvious sound but it was inconsistent. It must be remembered that our dear Sean who to me cannot actually ACT, in the sense that De Niro and others CAN ACT, as he rarely changes his natural speaking voice for the roles he has played as eg. An Arab, A Spanish ?? swordsman, Russian submarine captain etc. I personally am not fond of hearing an unnecessary accent. Watching an English staged play written by Chekhov with the cast speaking in that east European way of speaking English is not helpful to my ear.

Of course [as the Author I am informed by a previous poster has educated me in that the lead character was of Southern American origin] it is obvious with the recruiting a non English accented Briton they had to adapt the storyline but why not go the whole way and tell us he was from Edinburgh Scotland and call him a JOCK.

I am sure there must have been someone [American] around who could have filled this role more accurately. I mean after all look at those Oscars that are doled out yearly with scraps for the rest of the world.

BTW if the poster who was upset by the word fag is reading. He would most definitely have been called a fag and treated as a fag had he been at the average Public School in the UK. I'll bet so many may have came over from the US to enjoy that particular diversion only to find they were used a non sexual slaves and that most Brits of ALL sexes take great pleasure in having multiple oral experiences with fags each and every day.

It seems to me that today so many USA 'fags' are so really up their own posteriors [they wish?] that sometimes having an active partner is really a non essential accessory [appendage].

As far as accents go in TAT and as Bond and many of his early films he does bring down his accent much as it does slip sometimes, certain words do bring out accents.
Small note here in "Hunt for Red October" his capt. was Lithuanian and don't say that's the same thing as my family is that nationality and we don't consider ourselves to be at all Russian, thank you.
He can't act well many of us disagree on that one?!

I never heard a Scot called a JOCK that's a new one on me. I'm the one who posted in the item right above you of John DUKE Anderson's southern
origins as mentioned in the novel

Oh please Sean was the current hot thing at that point had been for years.
George Clooney got the role of Batman back in 1997 since he was the current hot thing at Warner Bros. who also produced his hit show E.R. no way was GC an even fair Bats, never mind a 26 year playing ROBIN the "BOY" wonder who was supposed to a teenager.

Talk about Batman and TAT look at all the English/Scot/Irish etc actors playing Americans on TV and film, never mind that the current Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man are all British. What no Americans are good for these parts?

Jesus this obsession with accents, seemingly increasingly prevalent on this board, is really getting annoying. And Connery is, of course, an excellent actor. No De Niro, but excellent still.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to remake this mess. Anyway,

George Clooney... Anderson
Sharon Stone... Ingrid
Eddie Redmayne... The Kid
Geoffrey Palmer... Pop
Richard Tyson... Tommy Haskins
with RZA as Everson
and Oliver Platt as Werner

A George Clooney vehicle; directed by George Clooney.

Christopher Walken from the Kid to Pops. Father time can be a S.O.B. The years have flown by. I remember Walken being so young in The Deer Hunter also.
