This quote is listed on the "memorable quotes" page for this movie. But I watched it again yesterday and I can't remember Dr. Phibes saying this in any scene. I always thought this was just a camp tagline, much like the spirit of the movie.
Anyone?
I didn't see or hear this quote in the movie either. I thinks it's only a tagline and this is a mistake on the page.
shareI may be mistaken but I believe it was a promotional tagline used on the poster. "Love means never having to say your sorry" was a popular phrase at the time... I think it came from the movie Love Story. There were a lot of plays on that; 'love means never having to say...'

This was definitely a tagline used in promo material for the movie. I remember seeing it in the theaters when it was released initially, and the picture had Phibes (skull faced) kissing Vulnavia, with the tagline underneath.
When I saw the film at the local moviehouse, patrons were presented with complimentary "dollar bills" featuring Price and North in an embrace as pictured on the playbill.

"The Abominable Dr Phibes" was released in 1971, and the tagline was definitely a tongue in cheek parody of 1970's "Love Story" tagline - "Love is never having to say you're sorry." It is not a line from the film.
shareIt isn't in the movie but it is on some of the movie posters which make it look like Phibes and Vulnavia are about to kiss, which of course they don't since Phibes is so in love with his dead wife. The film posters are the only thing about this movie I don't like and as a collector that is a real pity.
