Phibes is on now....

I remember in the mid 70's when there were only 3 network channels and a couple UHF channels, when I think CBS would show this and "Rises Again" during the late night...from 11:30 til the channel would sign off....National Anthem followed by test pattern or static, can't remember.
Those were great nights as a kid....and I miss Vincent Price, but I'm grateful for his movies....he seemed like such a great guy, and will always be the Master of Horror to me....thanks to TCM for showing his works!

Very similar memories for me, khodan!. I remember we actually dragged a portable avocado-colored black/white TV into the tent we set up in the backyard to watch Phibes late at night. A memorable way to experience this great movie!

I had the little portable B&W TV also, lol! And I was trying to remember why I was allowed to stay up so late on a "school night".,, cause it was shown in the summer during vacation. Those were the days!

Wish they would show it in the UK again, having not been shown for many years as far as I know. I may have to buy it on Blu-ray version from arrow video.

It isn't shown too often in the States, either but it would be nice if it and the "rises again" sequel were available together on Blu-ray....or maybe they are, I'll have to check. It wpuld be great to have the commentary by Vincent Price...I bet he would have had a ball doing it, telling the behind the scene stories, and I'd love to hear his voice narrating and his trademark laughter. Oh well....hope you get to see it soon!
