Ennio Morricone

I'm sad Ennio Morricone ended his collaborations with Dario argento after this movie (until 1996 anyway), although that opened the door for Claudio Simonetti.

But what an amazing last score Morricone composed for him! I'm listening to it now, and the track playing when Nina dies - called 'Come Un Madrigale' - is a beautiful piece of music. I've listened to so many scores by Morricone I don't expect to find something this good by him often.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

According to screenwriter Cozzi, Deep Purple were composing for the soundtrack, but they had to be exchanged because of a limitation on non-italian members on a movie crew. They opening credits score, for instance, was redone based on their version.
Morricone was brought in, but wasnt very confortable writing the drums and rock bits, and constant on-set arguments led them apart for more than 20 years .
Serenity now...

I'm with you. I love this movie. I think it has the best flow and groove of any of Argento's films, plus some classic murders and that dreamy style. But the music elevates it to one of my personal favorite Argentos.

Come Un Madrigale is one of my favorite Morricone pieces.
