Question on the U.S. Rating

Imdb says that this film was released in U.S. cinemas as a PG rating, but I think the film was edited so it could get the PG rating for the release. Does this mean the film was originally rated X before they edited it? Or was it rated R?

It wasn't edited at all. The original uncut version has a PG rating. Remember--"Cat O'Nine Tails" and "Bird With the Crystal Plummage" had PG ratings too and they were uncut also.
