World War I bomb damage to Eaton Place

In the episode The Hero's Farewell there is an air raid, you hear the bomb explode, the chandelier comes crashing down and the following morning you see the windows on the front door smashed and the servants sweeping up glass.

Did this bomb directly hit the house or did it fall close by?

I have a feeling if it was a direct hit the series would have ended prematurely.

If the bomb had hit the house, everyone in it would likely have been killed. It presumably hit nearby, rocking the house.

I thought it was odd that just about everyone - with the exception of "That girl!" and Edward - treated the experience as an exciting lark of sorts.

I really like the actor - Gerard? - in this episode; he seemed genuinely concerned for Ruby. They seemed to be setting something up between him and Rose, but I don't recall anything coming of it. Too bad; I was shipping them, as my (college) students would say.
