Question about an episode

Was there ever an episode where Mac returned to the military to defend someone accused of murder? The man was accused of drowning a man he served with. It turned out that he man had committed suicide and his commanding officer covered it up by having all of the men who served under him go out in a storm at night. He pretended that the man who was already dead, died, or was murdered while on manuevers.

There was an episode (the final one of Season 5) where Mac was called up in his Naval Reserve duties to act as a defense attorney for a female Lieutenant played by Susan Anspach accused of murder. It reminded me of JAG when I saw it rerun. As far as I can tell, however, that is the only time he acted in that function. The case you described doesn't fit.

The episode is "Act of Law", but that was not the case. Mix-up with another series maybe?

reply

THat sounds like a Quincy episode to me. I think the guys father was a friend and he did not want him to be ashamed that his son had killed himslef.

reply

Thanks for the help. I must have it mixed up with some other show.

reply

You're welcomed. But I am not 100% sure myself. I think it was Quincy and I am checking it out. It would be easy to get them mixed up because I think Quincy was in a mystery movie rotation series like McMillan and wife, when it first came on TV but toward the end of the series. So when all of the others shows were cancelled 1976 Quincy remained and went on for another 6 years+.

Ok I think I found it. The episode is called Semper-Fidelis. It is about a marine who looked like he was killed in a accident and a cover up ensued. Quincy is called to see what really happened. At first it looked like it was a murder they were covering up but it turned out to be a suicide. I think the actor James Luisi played the father of the marine. It think it was either on the 4th or 5th season. I found it on the TV.com

reply

Thanks. That sounds like what I remember.

reply

My pleasure! I just love it when I see my memory is still intact. Someone on the Quincy Board found it also.

Actually, I know this is late, but I think it is Hawaii Five-O and McGarrett went back to the Navy?

reply

Thanks. That could be it!
