I now that Sally was killed off, but what happened to Mildred?

In the first McMillan without Wife, Agatha said that Mildred had moved east to run a diner she inherited (an inside joke, since Nancy Walker at the time was appearing as diner owner Rosie in the Bounty paper towel commercials).
