Wrestling scene

So do you really get to see some good shots of Oliver's 'member' in this scene or is it just a bunch of hype?

reply

It's no hype.

You'll also get an eyeful of Alan Bates.

"What say there, Fuzzy Britches? Feel like talking?"

reply

Great! I'm looking forward to it, thank you.

reply

The scene is long and there are many shots of both actors who are totally nude and wrestling as the music, and they, crescendo. Not hype at all.

reply

It's true, but it never leads to sex. Gerald is too uptight or fearful (not sure of his reasons, but like Clive in "Maurice", I expect he just refuses to accept that he is homosexual) and (I think) Rupert basically gives up trying to win him over and merely holds out hope that one day, he'll find the right man, while also remaining with Ursula. She's not happy with it.

If you want a much more satisfying sexual scene (two, actually) with two much younger, gorgeous men, I highly recommend "Maurice", with Rupert Graves, James Wilby and Hugh Grant. The added bonus is that it's a Merchant-Ivory film and brilliantly done. I saw it on YouTube and it can be bought on DVD but it's expensive.

Thank you so much! I will definitely check it out.

You're welcome! "Maurice" is also much more well-known and popular than I realized. The book, by E.M. Forster, is excellent too. I think you'll really like it!

I'll be sure to check out the book, too. Thanks!

Thanks! Pay no attention to people who trash everything Forster has written! Some of it (like Howard's End) IS very long-winded and kind of stuffy, but Maurice is pure gold!
