Uncut Waterloo!

Anyone remember the original big screen version? For me it is a great memory - started me off on 35+ years of Napoleonic study! (showing my age lol) - but serious, even then I went to see it in the cinema 6 times - could not get enough. Despite certain historical exagerations and inacuracies, this is still a great film - and still my favourite - a restored (4+ hour) version rather than a new cgi optical masterpiece would be welcome - although, being of a greedy nature, I would like to see both restored and remake!

The film was never prepared in 4-hour version; the 134-minute version that was released in 1970, was the director's cut. No 'restoration' is necessary. In any event, all negative trims were junked after the film flopped, according to the film editor, Richard C. Meyer. I love the film and feel it tells the story in a concise, yet full-blooded manner.
