Anyone got any that DON'T SUCK?! These are all horrible. Like every copy I find online.
shareThe English subs are awful, the Spanish subs are perfect:

Use this subtitle for Tristana, it's the best I could find for it on the internet: http://subscene.com/english/Tristana/subtitle-103238.aspx
"The willow sees the heron's image upside down" from 'Sans Soleil'
You nailed it with the subtitles
Thank you so much titusbeertsen !
Perhaps the only way to watch the film in English right now. Properly!
You're welcome :)
More people need to see this film, it's shame that it's so obscure as of now. Let us hope that Criterion will release it this year, as was rumored a while ago.

I´ve never seen such sh-t before - the subtitles became more like a distraction either because a lot of computing had to be done to get the point, or because they were so outlandish as to be hilarious. Couldn´t the person responsible for that crap find a single person with elementary competence in both Spanish and English.
Or maybe it´s just an evil, deliberate prank played on the foreigners by the wicked old filmmaker who wrote it into his will or something... After all, the titles ´are´ by far the most surreal part of the picture.

Our local video store (yes, we still have an excellent one) has many Bunuel films, but not Tristana, so I was excited to find it on Youtube.
I streamed it through Xbox last night. Was pretty excited until I started reading the subtitles! I agree they were terrible...perhaps the worst I've ever seen. The movie became unintentionally funny, which wasn't exactly why I was watching. What a shame.
Thanks a lot; that is way better than the crappy one I started out with! :)
shareyes, first i thought Bunuel experimented with words :D :D
xvid subtitles ones were ok,
srt ones offered as first results by google sucked.
they are even not automatically translated, since there were many mis-spellings such as musch - instead of much.
