Exec on USS Ward

A while back, I asked a question on who the actor was that played the Exec on the USS Ward. The character's name was just given as Mr. Gepner. It is not in the cast list; I checked it several times. There were no firm answers so IMDb deleted the thread like they do to clean house from time to time.

As I watched the episodes of the 1950's series Highway Patrol on youtube, one of the actors there looked familiar, and as I thought about it, I wonder if he wasn't also the man who played Gepner. The actor's name was Wayne Heffley.

I believe he also had a bit part in Seven Days in May as the officer who carried The Football, the briefcase containing the nuclear launch codes.

Am I all wet here?
