Who knew that Santa was a Ginger? Ever since I was a little kid and saw this, I wondered why Klaus had red hair.

I think it was to make him stand out. Everyone in Somber Town had dark, grayish hair and dark clothes, while Santa wore a bright red suit and had bright hair. I think that's why the movie made him have a unique hair color.

It's the main reason I love this show best of all of them -- Kris and Jessica were redheads, and I was the only one I'd ever seen in my whole young life. I adored having redheaded heroes.

Rankin Bass had a lot of redheaded characters, probably because it was a bright color that stood out well.
