Also, both Hitler and the burgermeister were legally elected, but took more power and took away more individual rights as time progressed.

Maybe he was Hitler's grandpa and also blew his head off when he saw Russians coming.

This makes sense--also considering how close World War II was in reccent memory for people who made and/or watched this series. I'm torn between this and the 'capitalist vs. communism' interpretation in other threads.

It's neat how these 'low budget' stop animiation specials snuck in all kinds of political in-messages.

I'm bumping this post in hopes it will not get 'cleaned up'. It is their site. They do have the right to do this. [even though it makes sad] The message board for Rudolph the Red~nosed Reindeer was very recently 'cleaned up' [within the past few days or so] and the oldest remaining post is 5/11/2010
