For a movie so poorly acted, I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

I mean come on, the acting here is horrible, BY EVERYONE! And yet, it still has a fog to it. Its not a feel, or a smell, its a fog that rolls over you before you know its arrived. This kind of movie pulls you in. I've always loved movies with clearly defined rolls of good and bad and with a limited number of main charters (Just lets you get into the characters that ARE portrayed even more) and RL is right in my wheel house!

This is one of my favorite JW non-WW2 movies. I like his civil war pieces, and this one has one of the best stories of all of them. I must have watched this movie maybe 1000 times. Its like a security blanket. Its like watching The Wizard of Oz or It's a Wonderful Life. Its just a great story that wraps in you itself and all along, you know, in the end, everything will end OK.

Classis Duke. Classic Americana.

Duke and Jack Elam were severely let down by the rest of the cast. Frenchy and his pal just could not even come across as believable equals of Duke, they needed better actors for sure.
