Beautiful Women

The ladies in this film are really good looking, particularly Jennifer O'Niell (Shasta). Did anyone else find them out of place living alone in this one horse town?

I especially liked how Shasta snuggles up to the Duke to keep warm. Lucky guy finding a hottie like that in his bed in the morning. I'd have given her a little morning exercise.

reply

Yep. They may not have been the best actors in Hollywood, but they made up for it in...other ways.

What's the Spanish for drunken bum?

reply

And they all found the time to wear full eye makeup.
And where did the shampoo come from?
For a one horse town, it did OK in the beauty department.

reply

I'd like to find that town myself... But if you look at it from a "Brokeback" viewpoint, the cowboys weren't looking for the whorehouse, but the bunkhouse.

"Well, I'll be a suck-egg mule!"

reply

Yep that girls were gorgeous. Rio Lobo seems be a Town full of Hotties without boyfriends.

At the end even an old Cowboy like John Wayne got a young girl (with a scar in her face but still attractive).

"Well, nobody's perfect."

Jennifer O'Neill is gorgeous, one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

However, there is the really odd beautiful woman in this movie. Amelita (Sherry Lansing) is striking, and then if you look at her career it is about as unusual as you will ever see. She was not a success as an actress at all really, this was one of only 5 roles she has had, however, she did go on to be Chairman of Paramount Pictures (arguably the most successful female executive in the history of movies).

Jennifer O'Neill and Sherry Lansing were lovely in this film, but I actually think that Susana Dosamontes, as Maria Carmen, was the most gorgeous one of them all!!! She got less screen time than either of the other two, but she was spicy and sensuous and, best of all, a real Latina.

reply

Yes, agree. The actress that plays Maria is my favorite as well. I think you described her well. Her looks are not just another pretty girl, but there is some spicy personality in her looks as well.

reply

Yes, this was a total MAN movie. I can't think of a movie that rivals this one in gorgeous beautiful women. Every time you turned around, there was another one. You'll never see a movie with this many hot babes again. Too many women call the shots nowadays.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time
that's not funny!

Women in most Western movies and TV shows look wind/sand/sun-beaten. Living in the 1800's in the desert Southwest was tough. A bunch of hot young women that are well made-up, clean and nicely dressed wasn't period reality. But those hotties sure were great cinema eye candy.

reply

Most women were made to look glamourous in the old westerns.Even in Sergio Leone's more dirtier looking version of the wild west.In Fistful Of Dollars you had a Mexican peasant woman in virtual rags, with nice skin and eye make-up lol.And in Once Upon A Time In The West, the gorgeous Claudia Cardinale looked like she'd just walked out of a beauty parlour. You just have to go with it.But the women in this film were smoking.
