BBC Sherlock takes cues from this film

I watched this film recently because Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat(the writers for BBC's Sherlock) said they were influenced by this film while writing the script.

So far I picked up on:
-Sherlock griping about his costume due to Watson's stories in the magazines.
-The dusting joke between Sherlock and Mrs Hudson.
-The naked woman approaching Sherlock parallels Irene Adler's first entrance before Sherlock.

Any others?

The entire plot parallels ASiB: a woman who comes to Holmes under false pretenses/a "made up" case and uses his keen mind to ascertain intelligence on a British Government operation that Mycroft is overseeing. Despite her objectionable, furtive qualities, Holmes is intrigued and fascinated by her because of her intelligence and cunning, and in ways his perception of her leads to intellectual failures on his part.

But another small thing was "Gabrielle" saying "Auf Wiedersehen" to Holmes with the parasol as she was leaving, which is like Irene Adler's "Goodbye Mr. Holmes" text.

Also the concept that Sherlock might turn to drugs in the wake of finding out she was dead (though in the BBC version it doesn't seem as if he actually did; they were just concerned he would).

Plus the fact that Mycroft informs Sherlock at the end that she was captured and executed in a place on the other side of the world, although of course in the BBC version Sherlock did save her.

Absolutely loving this movie all over again. It's times like these where I wish I could thank them for going ahead with Sherlock, we need to keep Holmes and Watson alive for the next hundred years and beyond!

As much as I love Sherlock - I was shocked at how much the series borrows from this film; it goes beyond just mirrored scenes, it seems like Cumberbatch borrows a lot from Stevens' acting ticks....

" You're heading for a breakdown, why don't you pull yourself to pieces? "
