Naked dancing gangsters.

I have just read a review of "Performance" that cited one of the highlights of the "FIRST" half. It was a scene involving the gangsters, dancing nude and singing an ode to Harry Flowers. I have NEVER heard of this before, does anybody know if this is one of the "Legendary" cuts or is it a confusion of the "Memo from Turner" scene????

reply

It sounds very much like a confusion with the very end of "memo from turner" which is kind of an orgy.

Not a confusion at all........................When the film was shown in arthouse theaters in the mid to late seventies, prior to the video release, there was a special cut produced that indeed had segments of the gang presenting Harry with a cake in the nude and singing to him. I saw this cut in 1977.

I questioned Frank Mazzola abbout it and he said that the best cut from that time included many of the scenes originally deleted from the diectors cut of spring 1970 that were removed by the censors before the theatrical release in august 1970.
