Performance (1970)
This 1970 British film is now being released in its original uncut
theatrical version. It marked the directorial debut of Nicolas Roeg
(Walkabout, The Witches), who co-directed with Donald Cammell. James
Fox plays Chaz Devlin, a gangster with a talent for violence and
intimidation, who in underworld terms, is a "performer." Mick Jagger
is Turner, a reclusive rock superstar in whose home Chas hides. In
this spellbinder of illusion and reality, decadence and decay their
worlds collide - and the impact is both exotic and explosive. It has
become a modern movie legend, with the original soundtrack featuring
music from The Rolling Stones, Ry Cooder, Randy Newman, The Last Poets
and more.
