WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?!

Twice the movie cuts to two pointy objects (pens/knives) being positioned at opposite ends of a circular object, as if bisecting it.

Flowers does it with his desk set when lecturing Chas.

Turner does it in the kitchen with his place setting before dinner.

What is going on? Allusion to Eastern philosophy - peace at the center/the totality?

It's one of few films that never stops giving!
