The actor without a jaw?

Who is that actor? I can't find him in the credits. He's in the scene with the broken window... A police man maybe (while since I've seen it now) and he has no jaw, at least parts of it are gone, and a big scar under his mouth...
Does anyone know?

That's the legendary, and infamous: David Litvinoff. He was paid technical adviser on the film. Litvinoff acquired that scarred visage via his association with the Krays. ( The movie of that name depicts Reggie Krays inflicting the damage by pressing the blade-edge of a samurai sword into Litvinoff's impertinent mouth. However, there are other versions, involving other gangsters. )

Litvinoff was an insidiously evil character --- quite unlike his half-brother: the late Emmanuel Litvinoff who was a distinguished poet and entirely respectable.
David Litvinoff's portrait was painted by Francis Bacon. I would provide a link to an image, if there was one online; but there doesn't seem to be one anymore. It should be in the Bacon catalogue though; it shows Litvinoff with a sweat towel around his head. He was someone who had no desire to court publicity---hence his cameo in Performance going uncredited.

No. Not Litvinoff. David committed suicide LONG before he ever reached that age. He didn't want to get old!

I now believe you are right, sunznc. I was misinformed about the actor being Litvinoff; and, regrettably, have misinformed others about that; my apologies.

No apology needed.
