Patton's Tank Duel with Rommel

I love the scene where Gen. Patton is talking with the young Captain Jenson about how if he had his way, he would meet with Rommel in the field and fight him single handed in a tank duel. They would drive their tanks to the middle of the field, dismount, shake hands, and then climb back inside and drive them to the opposite ends of the field and begin their duel.

That scene really captured Patton's persona for me, his love of tradition, of chivalry and honor.

Then I realized that Patton in a Sherman Tank facing Rommel in a Panzer would be a fairly one sided affair.

Ole George would find himself being VERY chivalrous.

I think George would insist that Erwin use a Pzkw IV Aust G:

Just to be fair.

Well the Panzer IV ausf G would take out the Sherman frontally before the Sherman could get in range of the ausf G. The Panzer IV ausf G and F2 had the best gun fitted to any tank in 1942/early 1943 (outside the Tiger I).

Well then...a Mark III?
