Does anybody happen to know if the Russian folk song played on the balalaika and accordion at the victory party near the end of the film is in fact a real Russian/Slavic piece of music or something Jerry Goldsmith composed for the film? Apparently they had to teach people to play the balalaika for that scene, or so I read. My research on this has hit a dead end.

shareSomeone asked this a couple of years ago in a thread since expired. Shortly before it was asked, there was an episode of The Amazing Race that took place somewhere in Russia involving the racers learning a folk dance, and they had a balalaika band playing that specific tune for the dance. I'm pretty sure it's an authentic Russian folk tune, but still have no clue as to the title or composer either.
