Towns depicting Sicily

The towns depicting Sicily, particularly Messina, look very muck like authentic Sicilian towns. But there is no attribution for it on IMDB, it only says, "Italy."

Anyone have any info about this?

I believe those scenes were shot at La Granja de San Ildefonso, Segovia, Spain. Also in Almería, southern Spain.
