Problem I have with the script
It's supposed to be about a privincial Ohio couple being chewed up and spit out by big city chaos. By Lemmon's character is as pushy, aggressive and assertive as the annoying New York stereotype the movie attempts to lampoon. With the threats and the chest-pounding and the name-taking ... somehow the whole thing would make more sense if the leads lived in a NYC suburb, not "foreigners" per se, but residents exposed to and tempted by the high-life, who in the end resolve to quit it.
People never lock their doors in this town.
They will tonight.
