Is it or isn't it?

Are the rumors that "Let It Be" is not going to be released true? I've been all over the Internet and some say yes, others say no. There are articles that Ringo and Sir Paul have blocked the release out of concern that the footage will diminish their fanbase. However, a spokesperson for Apple Corps (or whatever) states that the rumors are false and a fabrication that materialized from a blog posting to a Chicago newspaper, and further says that it will be released, although not at the present time. Can anyone clear this up once and for all?

Next year will be the film's 40th anniversary so I wouldn't be surprised to see it finally released then.

I'm optimistic at it's eventual release.

I can only speculate that the reason for it's delay has been due to the personal problems of the two remaining Fabs, Paul with his battle in the divorce court, and for both of them the death of Neil Aspinall, who was crucial in matters of this kind, it was he, who was the architect of the resurgance of The Beatles' career with astute business management.

If Paul and Ringo dislike the LIB so much, why was the public given Let It Be Naked? And, if one watches the outtakes of the film on YouTube, there were quite a few times when the band members were caught smiling, even in the Twickenham scenes.

I'll also add that I can't see any problem with Yoko, or Olivia sanctioning it's release as representatives of the respective estates of John and George.

We'll see it I'm sure, when? that depends on the wheels of big business.

I agree with TheRedPen, next year would seem appropriate.

I don't think it will be released until Paul and Ringo (bless them) are gone. The first half of Let It Be is not flattering to them at all, bickering, especially Paul and George, and George left. John dances with Yoko and... so what? The second half where they play full songs and "seem" to be enjoying it is better. And the rooftop concert is great. I don't feel LIB is the holy grail of Beatle stuff. You all have probably seem most of LIB.

I was wondering why, as many claim, if Paul doesn't like the way the film portrays the Beatles, why was the film even released back in 1970? If he thought it didn't make them look good then why did he let it see the theaters? One thing I've noticed with this sort of thing is that people behind the scenes are working on such projects and doing an awesome job of keeping it a secret. Take the Beatles Remastered CD's. They were working on this project for four years and just like that a few months ago I hear of it's release. There are a lot of people trying to mislead the public so as not to get their hopes up and then they drop a bomb on us and release something great! I heard quite a while back that they were in fact working on the re-release of Let It Be on DVD and there were going to be a lot of extras on the multi-disc set. This would be awesome but I guess we'll have to just wait and see. I'm hoping for a 40th anniversary edition. That would make the most sense. Does anyone think they will even consider re-mastering Magical Mystery Tour for DVD? I'd rather see Let It Be before that.

It was released because the Beatles were under contract to do another movie and they actually had to do it. It was filmed during the day due to union laws and the Beatles really didn't do their music thing till the middle of the night. It was released as required by contract but was quickly pulled. I Have seen it (VHS - 80 minutes) and it is said there were 210 minutes made. Quite frankly I would not want to see 210 minutes and I am a huge Beatles fan. Keep checking
ebay and such to find an old copy. In fact you can buy it here right now

Yes, but that's a pirate copy. I think what people really want to know is when is it going to be released officially.
