I wonder how they let having a open bell tower in an occupied city get by editing. The idea that the Germans wouldn't have one or two people posted up there with a big gun is down right amateur hour. Who was in charge of these guys....Colonel Klink?

Maybe depends how far behind the lines the village is, but yes at least a lookout would have been prudent.

What do you mean when you say 'big gun'?
