Kelsey's Burgers

Obviously spoilers.

When crossing the minefield SSgt. Crapgame picks up the 30mm and complains about the weight. He says:-

"Now I've got to lift up this cannon. Carry it all the way to the front line someplace. The damn thing is heavier than Kelsey Burgers.

Can someone please explain what he means by this.

reply

I always thought Kelsey must be the mess sergeant (cook), and Crapgame is complaining about the chow by comparing it to the machinegun.

Unless Kelsey's was some sort of New York restaurant known for serving large hamburgers?

reply

Maybe it was a reference to Kelsey's Bar in 'All in the Family' (Carrol O'Connor)??

Keith Moon was the greatest 'Keith Moon Style' drummer ever!!

reply

All in the Family premiered in January, 1971. Kelly's Heroes was filmed between July and December 1969 and released in June 1970.

Then maybe the other way around??

Damn, I'd be griping about having to carry a 30mm gun too. That sh!t would be hea-VY.

...then whoa, differences...

reply

It wasn't 30mm it was a Browning M1919A2 30 CALIBER machine gun.

reply

Yeah I got that. I was having a play with the OP.
